INDOORS-- New construction--it's a 450 sq. ft. slice of heaven with: •Vaulted ceilings and two skylights (with remote-control operated shades) •Full-size kitchen with modern appliances including LG fridge, toaster, and Keurig coffee maker •Media center with a state of the art sound system, Bluetooth capability, movie projector, and 110" movie screen (Hello STAR WARS!) •Queen-size Murphy bed with a comfy hybrid mattress made of memory foam and spring coils, an armoire with plenty of closet space, and puck lighting (ideal for a little late night reading) •Cozy breakfast nook with comfy linen pillows •Barn door opens to a roomy bathroom with: marble floors--frameless glass shower doors--spacious fully stocked, walk-in, sit-down shower with marble bench--oversized shower head--spacious vanity •Carriage doors that can open out to enjoy the splendor of the day OUTDOORS--A resort-like backyard is awaiting you with: •Newly constructed swimming pool (38'Lx9'W) •Beautiful and serene landscaping •Stunning ambient lighting •Fire pit •Dining table •Luxury sofa chaise lounger •2 chaise lounge chairs The cottage is situated some distance behind the main house, so you'll be able to enjoy a lot of privacy. The backyard is yours to use during your stay, including the outdoor dining area, outdoor sofa, chaise lounge chairs, fire pit, and swimming pool. Relax and enjoy!! CHECK IN: 3pm CHECK OUT: 11am PARKING: We provide parking permits (day/night) for you upon arrival. If you're staying more than one night, please be mindful to switch out the daytime permit each day. There is usually ample parking, so finding a space should not be an issue. DISCLAIMERS: (1) THERE IS NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY SO SWIMMING IS AT YOUR OWN RISK. (2) DIVING IN THE POOL IS NOT PERMITTED. (3) WE DO NOT HEAT THE POOL. IN THE HOTTER MONTHS, THE POOL STAYS AROUND 76-80 DEGREES. HOWEVER, PLEASE KEEP IN MIND IT NATURALLY GETS COOLER DURING COLDER WEATHER (65-68 DEGREES AND BELOW). (4) PARKING ON THE STREET IS AT YOUR OWN RISK. WHILE WE'VE NEVER ENCOUNTERED ANY ISSUES, WE CANNOT GUARANTEE YOUR CAR'S SAFETY. (5) IF YOU SHOULD FORGET TO PLACE THE PARKING PERMITS IN YOUR CAR OR PLACE THEM INCORRECTLY AND RECEIVE A TICKET FROM THE CITY OF PASADENA, YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE TO PAY FOR THAT TICKET. We operate under the notion that, if you're getting away or on business, you're probably craving some quality time alone and privacy. We respect that while you're here. Certainly we love a good chat, but we leave it entirely up to you. If you should need anything, simply text us. We are usually available until 11pm. If we aren't reachable for whatever reason, feel free to leave us a message and we'll be sure to get back to you at our earliest convenience. Of course, in the event of an emergency or to gain access to the property, we are available 24/7. The guesthouse offers a tranquil retreat close to civilization. The metro and a variety of restaurants are easily reached on foot. Downtown Pasadena is a short bike ride, healthy walk, or brief car ride away. Pasadena is a beautiful town with so much to see! We are a 10-minute walk to the Lake Gold Line Metro Station, where you can catch the Gold Line to South Pasadena and enjoy Mission Street's shops/restaurants, take the Del Mar stop where you can take in the famous Rose Bowl Flea Market (2nd Sunday of every month), take the Union Square stop to experience Olvera Street (margaritas, anyone?) or a delicious French Dip sandwich from Phillipe's. If it's a museum you seek, exit at the Memorial Park Station to find the Norton Simon Museum, one of the best collections of visual art in the Los Angeles area. Downtown Pasadena with it's wonderful shops and restaurants is a mere 5 minutes away by bike or car (or, for those of you who enjoy some exercise, a 30-minute walk). We have two adorable dogs. They never have access to the cottage, however, so it is allergen/pet free. During your stay, we happily keep them in the house and only let them out to do their business in the front yard of the main house. You might hear the occasional bark, as they love to protect their homestead. But, most likely, you'll never hear them as the cottage is a comfortable distance away. BTW they are friendly and love meeting new people!

Designer’s Dream Oasis with Lap Pool & Hot Tub

Relax in the oasis of this wholly remodeled 1920s Craftsman-style guest house, dubbed the Boat House due to its proximity to the LA River. Impeccably designed brick industrial with intimate light-filled interiors, the Boat House has its own entrance and shares a large yard, fire pit, lap pool, and hot tub with the main house 50 feet away. NOTE: Euro-style kitchen includes refrigerator, toaster oven, portable electric cooktop (two burners), microwave, electric kettle for making coffee, teas, pots, pans, plates, etc. Street parking is usually never an issue. Please read the online manual. Modern, comfortable, loft-like space in hip East LA hood, Glassell Park! (FYI, it's not a real a boat house), but a unique 1920s brick building on a quiet residential street. We call it the "Boat House" because of close proximity to the LA River. The building has polished concrete floors, wood beams, mid-century design, custom copper faucets, custom OSB cabinetry & one-of-a-kind art & furnishings. There's a cozy fire-pit area right outside the door to enjoy as well as a pool, spa and fruit trees. NO FILM SHOOTS ALLOWED. PLEASE DON'T INQUIRE UNLESS PLANNING TO PAY 4X THE RATE. We lovingly designed, carefully curated and restored the guest house. We so appreciate you treading kindly with respect to the furnishings and items that share the space - (ie, please don't take the vintage pottery outdoors), typewriter (just for show), artwork, collection of books & furniture. PLEASE, NO WET TOWELS or bathing suits hung anywhere but on the hooks provided or in bathroom. There are blinds in the rooms for your privacy. The building is historic so thank you for being mindful and not putting anything other than Toilet paper in the toilet. Thank you!! The guest house shares a spacious back yard with the main house where we live. The backyard has fruit trees & a cozy fire pit. You have a private entry through a side gate. Ample street parking. We're an active family with two small kids. We live in the main house on site. We also have a chill labradoodle dog named Mel & two outdoor kitties. My hubby and I are both documentary filmmakers & have travelled extensively. We love hosting folks from all over so please say hello during your stay! We've provided blinds in the guest house and respect your privacy (we won't be too loud too early). We share our backyard with you and love to enjoy the outdoor space. We swim often, BBQ and use the firepit. Feel free to join us! (if the pool safety net is in place, please don't try and remove it yourself, thx). Please let us know if you'd like to use the pool and/or spa. The pool is heated by the sun but the spa can be quickly heated for your enjoyment. Just ask! Occasionally, we host friends, brunch & parties. Again, feel free to join in! We're easy going like that. Someone is usually on site to help with your needs or just a phone call or text away. Enjoy your stay! The guest house is located behind the main house on a quiet street, close to great coffee shops and restaurants. East LA is both hip and full of colorful diversity. The location is convenient to Silverlake, Los Feliz, Griffith Park, and Downtown. Ride sharing works great! We recommend it - Lyft or Uber. Also, various metro lines are located a couple miles away. And, Enterprise car rental has locations nearby. We're conveniently located near the 5 and 210 freeways. We live in a very ethnically diverse neighborhood. A few times a year some of our neighbors have parties: Quinceaneras, birthdays, Tomborazo bands, etc. We've never found them to be intrusive & rather enjoy the festive music!

Private zen garden retreat in charming South Pasadena. Settle in with a glass of wine or a cup of coffee and a good book on the patio, or clear your mind by the pond with its soothing fountain. Fall into the comfy bed for a restful sleep. Venture out to walk to more than 25 fine restaurants, art galleries, specialty shops, and Trader Joe's or hop on the Metro to access much more. The world-famous Huntington Gardens, the Gamble House, and Rose Bowl are all within three miles.

Little Los Angeles Hideaway

Glass doors open onto a patio with lush trees, succulents, lounge chairs and a gas-operated firepit. Our studio in-law has a midcentury modern meets tree house feel to it. This little hideaway is completely detached from the main house and has its own separate entrance. A private bathroom is adjacent to the studio. While there isn't a stove for cooking, there is a small refrigerator, freezer, electric kettle, Kerug coffee maker, and microwave in the space.

Cozy traditional 1920s California bungalow, complete with a Batchelder fireplace, tucked behind the main house built in 1903 by famed architect Frederick Roehrig. Centrally located off of Orange Grove Blvd. Walk to the Rose Parade, the Arroyo Seco, Huntington Hospital, Art Center South Campus, and Old Pasadena. A brisk walk will take you to the Rose Bowl, Gamble House, or the Wrigley Mansion. The Huntington Library is only a short drive away.
