The Red Train Carriage

The Red Train Carriage is a special place to stay next to the train tracks of The Swanage Railway. We believe it was built in about 1858 for GER as a 2nd class passenger carriage. It was just a shell when we got it, with it's original walls, doors, ceiling and floor, but the seating had been removed. There was only a few clues about its history in some of the doors and windows. We have saved as much of the original carriage as possible whilst making it a comfortable place to stay for a week.

La cinquième baie du monde pour l’amplitude de ses marées est située sur l’axe de migration Manche-Atlantique. Entre 30 000 et 40 000 oiseaux font ici une halte migratoire ou y résident en hivernage. Le logement est fourni avec serviettes et linge de lit fait. Il y aura aussi : thé, café, savons (…) pensez à remplacer ;)

Madgeon’s view is a unique and lovingly restored railway carriage on our regenerative farm in the Blackdown hills AONB. Formerly part of the Madgeon estate in the 1800s, this secluded spot gives you exclusive, sole use to relax and enjoy the view with your partner and 4 legged friends. There is easy access from the M5 and A303, providing a great base to explore the Blackdowns, Somerset countryside and attractions and the beautiful Jurassic coast.

This is a beautifully restored Great Western Railway carriage (c.1870), carried across the fields by locals in 1921 to create a unique home in the peaceful village of Eype, just minutes’ walk from the secluded beach. Once home to Paul Atterbury from BBC’s Antiques Roadshow, it’s ideal for couples or solo visitors exploring Dorset’s Jurassic Coast.
