Off the grid: take a break from load-shedding and water-shedding. The cottage is situated 5km (7 minutes’ drive) from the centre of Makhanda (Grahamstown).

Palomino Cottage is set in a quiet, easily accessible area in the rural village of Bathurst. Great for hikers, cyclists, nature lovers and bird watchers. The village itself has a lovely variety of restaurants, art galleries, shops and nurseries. 15 minutes to the coastal town of Port Alfred and 40 minutes to Makhanda/Grahamstown. Sleeps two in a private double room. A separate room with a bunk bed between the main bedroom and bathroom. Can accommodate one on the coach in the lounge.
