The Herd House Cottage

Our cosy 150 year old stone cottage in the heart of Roscommon is the perfect base for exploring the countryside, or just retreating into the tranquility in the stunning natural surroundings of our farm. Ballindooley Castle

The Castle rests on about half an acre of land with Ballindooley Lake lying to the south west. It is surrounded by low walls and hedges: with a gated entrance controlled by an electronic security system. Features include 3 murders holes and a dungeon The castle was built by the DeBurgo family (approximately 1480). It had the distinction of being shelled by the British Gunboat ” Helga” during the1916 Rising to disband rebels
