A mile away, you'll find Deep Eddy Pool (spring fed and open year round), Lion's Municipal Golf Course (18 holes in the heart of Austin), and Lake Austin's waterfront dining. There is access to public transportation (bus) within walking distance (less than a mile). The walk is doable but not incredibly pedestrian friendly. We have an enhanced cleaning policy to ensure guest safety and peace of mind in the midst of uncertain times that includes: A top notch HEPA filter, spraying or wiping disinfectant on all surfaces and washing laundry with hot water and bleach. This is an eclectic and imaginative one bedroom cottage sanctuary with a front porch swing for watching east Austin mosey on by. Joyous comfort is to be had in the main bedroom with custom cathedral ceiling and tempurpedic bed. The bathroom features a walk in shower with custom tile and a clawfoot tub for all of your bathing dreams. There is an additional sleeping loft should you have a friend or two who would like to accompany you. Please make yourself at home on the front and side porches but we ask that you give some privacy to the back yard immediately surrounding the back house. Thank you! Central East Austin is a diverse and dynamic neighborhood that is just a few minutes from downtown and yet still quiet. In addition to offering of some of Austin's best restaurants and music venues, it also has important history to explore. In the last century, highway 35 was a tool of segregation, with east (of 35) Austin providing a rich community for African Americans. See how this history lives on through a plethora of old and new businesses is this burgeoning neighborhood! There is a parking spot that you are welcome to use directly in front of the house and there is also plenty of street parking with no permitting or street cleaning concerns. The closest B-Cycle station is a 15 minute walk away at Victory Grill on 11th St. Many of the 6th St restaurants and bars are a 10 minute walk as well. If you would prefer not to walk, there are a selection of ride share services such as RideAustin (our favorite), Lyft, or Uber. The street has two names, Hamilton Ave and Richard Overton Ave. Depending on your map source you may see either one pop up. Richard Overton is the oldest living American and American World War II veteran at 112 years of age. He lives down the block where be bought a house after the war ended.

The house is located in North Austin (Wells Branch neighborhood) near major highways MoPac Expressway & i-35. Discover several restaurants, a convenience store, community parks and community pool just a few minutes’ walk away from the house. Getting to downtown Austin is a 20-minute drive south. And The Domain which features 100 upscale and mainstream retail stores and restaurants, almost half of which are exclusive within the market, is located within a 10-minute drive. The Howard Train Station is a 6 minutes drive (and 25 minute walk) from my house and can easily get you downtown (final stop is by Austin Convention Center) and back.
