Windrose - Camden Windward House

The Windrose Suite has a private front porch and entrance, and is located up a private staircase on the 2nd floor of the Windward House Inn. This romantic suite has the feel of an apartment with its cozy front facing sitting room and gas fireplace. The separate bedroom is furnished with a high luxurious queen bed and boasts multiple windows on both sides for cross ventilation. A unique highlight of the Windrose Suite, is its spacious en-suite bathroom. Soak in the old-fashioned claw foot tub, or step into the large walk-in shower depending on your bathing preferences. The Windrose Suite has a unique history. CPT Elijah Glover (1792-1868) was a lumberman and shipbuilder who utilized its sitting room as his office and place of business, when he built the house in the 1850s. It takes its name after the graphic tool used to give a succinct view of how wind speed and direction are typically distributed at a particular location. Before the development of the compass rose, a wind rose was included on maps in order to let the reader know which directions the 8 major winds were blowing. Quarterdeck - Camden Windward House

The Quarterdeck is a deluxe, 2nd floor king room, with a large private deck and separate entrance from the main Windward House Inn. Located in the back of the property, this very private room boasts floor to ceiling windows with an enormous deck, overlooking Mt. Battie. The high vaulted ceilings add additional natural light with a series of skylights. Other amenities include a gas fireplace, refrigerator, Keurig machine and large Samsung smart TV. The en-suite bathroom features a single person Jacuzzi tub and separate walk-in shower. In nautical terms, the quarterdeck is a raised deck behind the main mast of a sailing ship. Traditionally it was where the captain commanded his vessel and where the ship’s military colors were kept. This led to its use as the main ceremonial and reception area. Harbor Carriage - Camden Windward House

The Harbor Carriage is a deluxe, ground floor king room, furnished with a romantic period inspired, dramatic four-poster antique style king bed. With a private entrance, that is separate from the main Windward House Inn, this room is ideal for romantic getaways. There is a refrigerator and beautiful blue gas fireplace (as of 11/28/19 fireplace is out of order until further notice) that matches the vintage soaking tub in the en-suite. A unique feature of this room is the enormous en-suite bathroom, featuring it’s vintage high-back soaking claw-foot bathtub and separate walk-in shower. The Harbor Carriage gets its name from its own rich history. Within this section of the renovated post and beam barn, the original owners of this circa 1850s Greek revival home, kept their carriage. Elijah Glover - Camden Windward House

The Elijah Glover Room is located up the main staircase on the 2nd floor of the Windward House Inn. This deluxe bedroom is furnished in traditional antique décor and features a queen-sized four-poster period replica bed. Three large windows allow in plenty of light and the right amount of circulation to enjoy a cool Maine summer breeze. The large en-suite bathroom features a walk-in shower. The Windward House has been providing comfort for our guests for over a quarter of a century, however, it was built in the 1850s as a private residence.
