Welcome to Indigo Woods Retreat! Our historic cottage is nestled in the woods just up the road from Roanoke and Salem on top Burkett Mountain. We are next to a >1400 acre nature preserve with 5 miles of trails. Appalachian Trail (McAfee Knob), Blue Ridge Highway, Smith Mountain Lake, James River, wineries, breweries, shopping are close by. 18 min to Roanoke College and 40 minutes to Virginia Tech. Gateway Cottage. Historic Homeplace+Mountain Views

We have some surprises for you at Gateway Cottage! We hope you'll come share them. It's the historic homeplace for a family of seven who lived here for 100 years. It's now a blend of farmhouse and contemporary. This cottage is also a blend of country and town, with plenty of space to spread out, relax, walk our 3 acres, view mountains, and watch the deer. Need something you might have at home? I bet we've thought of it! You'll be surprised to find how well-equipped Gateway Cottage is.

Peaceful tiny house with amazing view of Sharp Top Mountain! Features: hot tub, outdoor dining area, small kitchenette amenities, and smart-tv w/firestick (must use your hotspot to stream). 10 min to BR Parkway, Peaks of Otter, and Claytor Nature Center. Wineries, orchards, and hiking nearby. Friendly dogs may occasionally visit from my mother’s house next door. (Look for Wind Tides Farm sign). ***If booking in winter months, keep in mind the wind tends to be heavy, depending on weather.***

Through a beautiful barn door you’ll find your bedroom and in-unit laundry closet with washer and dryer. Enjoy a beautiful outdoor dining space with chairs for 3 and a grill to cook your favorite meals. Just minutes away from Fairystone State Park, Goose Point, and Philpott Marina, Dam and Lake.

Boat rentals, put put, arcade, and great restaurants just down the road. There is plenty of room for parking for all who want to bring your own boat.

Virginia's Triple Crown Lodge (Shuttle)

This recently renovated barn loft is located a 0.3 mile walk from the AT and just off the Transamerica Trail (cycling). This secluded retreat is located within 20 miles of Blacksburg, Fincastle, Daleville, Salem, and Roanoke. The host is an experienced AT hiker and offers shuttle service to local trailheads, grocery stores, laundromats, etc. The first 20 miles are complimentary, with a $0.70 fee per additional mile. Otterview has one of the most incredible views in the state, huge deck, and pond. The house is open format with 3 bedrooms, a top of the line kitchen, cozy living room, and extraordinary great room. Look out at the Peaks of Otter, enjoy incredible sunrises and sunsets. You are welcome to grill out on the Blackstone, enjoy the firepit, and relax on the dock. There is two miles of trails on the 37 acre property with their own trail signs and map.
