The village is a great base for country walks in the Kent Downs, with plenty of local pubs for pit stops, or visits into Canterbury for its vibrant nightlife. Bus Services to Canterbury, Dover and the surrounding villages. Train service from Canterbury to London, Dover and Whitstable. Why visit Watling House... - Fantastic walks in an area of outstanding natural beauty - Lots of local amenities on your doorstep - three village pubs, local shop, butchers and a frequent bus service into Canterbury (approx 10 mins). - Close to the historic cathedral city of Canterbury. Visit the Cathedral, Canterbury Tales and the historic city walls. - You can nip up to London on the UK's first highspeed service from Canterbury West (approx 55 mins) or a day trip to France (approx 20 mins from the Port of Dover and the Channel Crossing). We haven't been able to list all of the great things to do in the area but can always tell you more... we would recommend a trip to one of the local Kentish vineyards for some famous English Fizz!

Situated in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with sweeping countryside valley views and many walks, this *premium* cottage offers a relaxing and comfortable stay with all home comforts for two adults. Caution: (We have a Floor Bed upstairs and a Sofa bed downstairs.) With historic pubs all around, Central Canterbury is 10 mins drive away yet you are in the countryside! Get away from London, breathe countryside air, travel to/from the Continent. Dover is only a 30mints.

Deep carpets, shower, soft white towels, extra wide beds in one bedroom, fresh 100% cotton percale sheets, a fully equipped kitchen and continental breakfast provided, all make it a special home. A travel cot with linen, high chair and baby bath are freely available. Smart TV and WiFi also.

Walking distance from the Mermaid Pub, family-run butcher, independent baker and welcoming tea room, as well as other local excellent pubs & The Pig in Bridge. Plenty of walks and cycle routes from the door step. Relax by the wood burning stove, eat at the cottage/pub, take a lovely dog walk and enjoy the peaceful setting. Our home and Annexe is situated just off the main road in the village of Lydden where we are surrounded by a National Nature Reserve and have access to beautiful walks on the chalk downlands and the Whitecliffs of Dover Coastal Walk is also close by. The village of Lydden has good transport links being adjacent to the A2 connecting Dover to London and within the easy reach the High Speed rail route to London St Pancras, Dover ferry port and the Eurotunnel.

Great beaches & castles within a 20 minute drive. The lodge is ideally situated for Lydden Hill Race Circuit & cross Channel ferries to France. Towns of Deal, Sandwich, Margate, Folkestone and Whitstable are close by.
